In my view as a mentor and life coach, personality forms a product of one's experience, belief, and the goal one sets out to achieve. It is not merely the way we present ourselves to society, but it is the essence of who we are. Throughout my journey guiding people from different paths in life, I have perceived personality as a force poised for motion-it is flexible and perturbed by awareness of self and deliberate growth.
From the day one, we are molded by our environment, culture, and life-situation, which in turn create our personality. Some people think that personality is a fixed trait but in my experience, it can be quite the opposite of that. It is not the case that we are confined to our former behaviors or the naturally given traits; on the contrary, we can only become new persons thru education ÎșαÎč contemplation.
A key lesson I impart to those I mentor is self-awareness. Self-knowledge is the first step to personal change. When we are able to see our strengths, weaknesses, values, and motivations, we become able to relate our actions to our purpose. Self-awareness is the tool that we use to observe and interpret our actions, seeing those that are beneficial and those that we must abandon.
The mindset of being static is a mental prison while the one that is about growth is a mental expander. Most people think they are destined to have their personalities, but I tell people to treat themselves as ever-changing beings. It is through the process of taking risks, gaining knowledge from mistakes, and making continuous improvements that we can make our personalities reflect the best version of ourselves.
Communication and companionship are not just about what we do and who we are. In both personal and professional settings, our way of talking, showing compassion, and reacting to others is a crucial part of our personality. By developing emotional intelligence, we can strengthen our connections and become better leaders.
The most exciting part of my career is the experience of people who liberated themselves from the things they had set for themselves. I have been a witness to people who turned from being timid into brave, from being uncertain to assured, and from not having a goal to being purpose-driven. The key to this process is the unceasing accumulation of knowledge, perseverance, and a strong will for self-improvement.
